A 2021 Birthday

Birthdays. They are almost always one of the most cherished days for a person in every year, and for me, that was no different. However, I was nervous that this year's birthday would be an exception. Not only was last year's birthday really fun and would be hard to surpass, but my mom's birthday this year ended up a catastrophe. It ended up turning out.... pretty good.    Most of the day went like any other, like most of our birthdays.  It was all just the same old things we'd do on a normal day. However, it was when the clock ticked to 9:00, the magic started to happen. I went downstairs and saw a cake and some assorted presents. We got ourselves changed and sat down, and got our photos taken. Then, it was time for the party.  The happy birthday celebration went as usual, but after that, it was time for the presents.    First off, there was the birthday card. It wasn't your typical fold-in-half birthday card. Instead it was a cartoon cake, with 5 can...

Procrastination

Procrastination. It's something that everybody deals with at one point or another, and it absolutely sucks. However, I didn't have big problems with procrastination until fairly recently, because before then, all of the homework I needed to do was just one or two pages of math problems which I could do in about 10 minutes. But when I entered 5th grade, there was a sudden surge of things I had to do after school, and procrastination reared its ugly head right through the door.   It turns out that I get distracted, very, very, easily when I do any piece of work that takes too much time. One minute I'm doing homework and the next I'm having thoughts about being kidnapped and murdered because I watched something that I shouldn't have and now I'm scared. Point is, I kept on getting distracted and having to rush at the end of the week to finish my work.  So, of course I wanted to find a way to stop procrastinating, but when I asked my parents for help on how to deal ...

Pandemic Problems

So throughout this pandemic, a lot of stupid decisions have been made by pretty much everyone in handling the spread of Covid-19, but America has got to be one of the countries that has handled it the poorest, with cases skyrocketing from a few dozen to millions over the span of only about a month.   And now, just when the virus is FINALLY starting to die down and vaccines are finally being rolled out, America has decided to reopen it's doors and lift mask mandates.  Now, I know everyone wants to get back to normal life as soon as possible, but reopening this soon is just asking for another surge of Covid-19, which means  the pandemic is more likely to be prolonged even further, and especially with the new Delta variant running around and causing havoc, an increased chance that one of your loved one will bite the dust from Covid-19, which is probably not a price you'd want to pay for being able to go back to regular life. To accompany the reopening America has also d...

My Thoughts on Bugs

One thing that most people don't realize is that EVERYONE, whether you're short or tall, friendly or mean, from the one side of the Pacific Ocean or the other, etc. All of us have taken a life. And some of us have ended tens, hundreds, or THOUSANDS, of lives. These murders happen right in front of our eyes, and none of us bat an eye. You know why? Because all of this death occurs to one particularly controversial class of creatures, one known for being creepy and crawly, bugs.  Now, lots of people have repulsing feelings towards insects, but most people, ESPECIALLY those of you who live in place with warm climates, can agree that mosquitoes are. the. absolute. WORST . I hate everything about these annoying as butt creatures.   They're really tiny, which is good because I can't see their details well enough to be creeped out by them, but also mean that you can't see them unless you constantly inspect your legs to make sure there isn't any tiny vampires feasting ...

I'm Going Back To School (And Why I'm Nervous About That)

So in about a months time, me, along with every other 5th grader, will be going into middle school. And I, feel very nervous about it. Not just because I'm going back to a school full of children that are too young to be vaccinated (such as me), but also because of the new things I'll have to adjust to.  I'll start with trying to adjust to the new things in middle school. Now, I'll try to make this short, since I've already talked about this in my last blog, but i'm nervous for a lot of things that will arrive and change from the transition from Elementary to Middle school. Firstly, I'm nervous that I'd get lost in my new middle school. I've gotten lost in my Elementary school before when a new school year started and didn't know where my class was, so a whole new school with many, many classes sounds WAY more easy to get lost in. It would also contribute to me getting late way more often, since a big vast school that I could get lost in where I ...

Cycling Adventures

Alright, so recently I've started getting back in to cycling. Back when there wasn't a worldwide pandemic forcing the world to stay quarantined, I had dipped my toes into the world of cycling, but I wasn't really experienced in it, so I only went on one static loop around the neighborhood. I would cycle on the sidewalk up until I reached the house with the purple flowers. Then I would look both ways before crossing the street to the other side. (I don't get why some people don't do that, it takes like, no effort and could be life saving, but I guess that's just stupid people being stupid.) Then I would follow the path until we arrived at the house opposite our house. Then, I would stop, look both ways, and then cross the street once more to go back to my house.   But this year, I got bored of just practicing in that one loop, so one time I was a little adventurous and went further on, and my mother got worried about me taking a while to get back. She then foun...

Stories I Wrote For School: Story 1-Parading Around

Image
Alright, here we go. As you can see in the title, this is the first of five stories I wrote for school. Now, my teachers assigned me and my classmates some homework to do after school hours, and because of quarantine, because of the COVID-19 virus, which I have mentioned in a previous blog ( Headaches and Outbreaks on a Lunar New Year) they had to send the homework through google slides. And, for writing practice after the Writing FSA, a big writing test taken at the end of the school year, my reading teacher assigned me and my class an activity where we would look at a picture, and write a story based off of it. Now for this first story, we had to write a story based on this image below: Problem is, I could think of anything to write based of off this, so I asked my father and he was able to come up with the idea that they were a bunch of parents and young children cheering their older siblings on in some kind of parade. So I took the idea, and wrote the story below. I'll be patc...
