Why My Posting Schedule is Garbage

If you're one of the 10 people that actually reads this blog, then you'll know of my very erratic upload schedule. I'll abandon this blog for months at a time, then suddenly write another blog post before disappearing once more. Now, this is caused by a number of factors, The most obvious one is just plain procrastination and laziness. Why should my bonobo brain spend 15 minutes writing this blog and getting it over with, when it can spend an hours-long, fandom induced binge about Pokémon fangames instead. If there isn't a deadline, my brain isn't getting it done.

I know it's a bad habit and I should kick it to the curb before I enter high school so I don't swamp myself with a ridiculous amount of work and end up making my sleep schedule even worse than it already is. But the thing is, it's not as simple as just telling myself not to procrastinate. You know where I write this blog? My computer, which is a veritable highway to all kinds of distracting destinations! This is part of why I stopped doing virtual school. If I have unmonitored internet access while I'm trying to do work, that work isn't getting done until midnight.

But while laziness is a big part of my terrible posting schedule, it's far from the only reason. Like all authors, I suffer from writer's block. When it comes to posts on this blog, I have two options: write an original story, or write about a life experience. The thing with writing an original story is that I am not creative enough to write a good one. You ever notice how all the stories in this blog have been completely abandoned? That's because when I look back at these crumbs of a story, I realize that my idea was god-awful. Take my most recent venture: Song of the Shell. When I first wrote it, I thought it would be interesting to flesh out this hidden, underwater world. But beyond that, I had no actual plot ideas, so I just canned it. Maybe one day I'll have a killer idea which I'll end up following through with, but that day is not today.

So, what about my personal experiences? Why don't I just post about those? Well I would - if I actually had anything to write about? I already rarely leave the house - school not withstanding - but whenever I do, it's only for going on walks, grocery shopping, or fast-food restaurants. And the rare time we do something other than that, it's just to acquire some free food or goodies. I've lived in Oviedo for nearly 9 years now, but I couldn't tell you anything about the local food or attractions.

In conclusion, I haven't been writing because my the attention span is that of a kitten chasing a laser, and because my life is boring as hell and I haven't got nothing to write about. See you in 2025! (I'll probably have my next blog posted by then... hopefully)
